On Overwhelm and the Road Ahead

I often feel like there’s so much I want to do.
My mind fills with ideas, dreams, and goals.
Things I long for. Things I think I should explore. Things I want to achieve.
Sometimes I start something — a project, a thought, a task — and almost instantly I find myself overwhelmed. By everything happening. By everything in my head.
And other days… life simply happens.
Tasks and appointments pile up like a mountain I don’t know how to climb.
Does that happen to you too?
Do you also feel overwhelmed by your thoughts — or everything going on around you?
💭 The Harsh Inner Voice
When I’m overwhelmed, by outside pressure or my own expectations, I often feel frustrated. And sometimes… ashamed.
Ashamed that I can’t meet the standards I’ve set for myself.
I know that’s not fair. I know it’s not kind.
But when everything is boiling, my logic and self-awareness boil over too.
Sometimes I even get angry at myself… for being angry at myself.
Once that spiral starts, it moves quickly — and painfully.
🧘♀️ Can We Avoid These Feelings?
I don’t think we can always avoid overwhelm.
But I do think we can meet it — more gently.
By listening. Earlier. Deeper.
Listening to what our bodies are really saying.
To what we actually have the capacity for — before everything shuts down.
How good are you at stopping to ask yourself:
What do I need right now?
What am I able to carry — right now?
🪡 On Practicing — and Finding Peace in the Imperfect
I’m not very good at listening to myself.
Not good at knowing what’s truly realistic.
But I’m practicing.
Like anything we try to learn, it takes time. Repetition. Patience.
I’m still a beginner.
Maybe you are too?
Would you like to practice with me?
🌬️ When Everything Feels Too Much
Have you ever taken a deep breath? Did you notice your body releasing a sigh you didn’t even realize it was holding?
As if it’s just been waiting for a moment of calm.
Maybe you can stop for a moment.
Listen to the birdsong.
Pick up your yarn and crochet a few simple stitches — just enough to give your thoughts a little distance.
Maybe those loops become your little loops of stillness.
🤍 On Practicing — Together
I’d be so happy if you wanted to share your thoughts or experiences here in the Loop of Light space.
Maybe your loops of stillness and hope can help the rest of us too.
Because I truly believe the road feels softer, wider, and lighter — when we walk it together.
Will you walk with me?
Toward more self-acceptance.
More self-compassion.
Fewer impossible expectations.
More presence.
Less overwhelm.
And remember — it’s also a practice, to simply give yourself space to breathe.
Maybe we can practice… together.
Best regards ,
Bente
